Have you ever had a time in your Christian life where you wondered if you were saved? Perhaps you had an experience as a child where you went forward at the invitation, prayed a little prayer, and then had an emotional outburst. Does that make me saved? When I got saved, I felt nothing. Some have told me I did not get it, for if I had, I would have felt something. I have heard a lot of testimonies from others about their salvation experience and have found that everyone has a different experience. Some feel like a great weight has been lifted from them while others feel little or nothing. What evidence, then, do I have that I have received the savior? Here is what the Bible says:
You will love your fellow man
We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. (1 John 3:14)
You will have a new life
Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
When you sin conviction will come
And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, my son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. (Hebrews 12:5-8)
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (1 John 1:10)
You have a desire to go to church and to read his word
As he spake these words, many believed on him. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:30-32)
The word of God now makes sense to you
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2:14)
You have no problem fellowshipping with other Christians
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1 John 1:6-7)
Summary
If all of the above apply to you, then congratulations, you are a child of God. However, if you lack something, then perhaps you need to check up. You might need to read this article: What must I do to be saved?
